"The mystery of the Crystal Skulls is a fascinating one, taking into account man's history of not listening, the magic of precious crystal and the foresight of the earliest civilizations to leave a legacy. The legend talks about thirteen crystal skulls, left by our earliest ancestors in the area of Central America. They were supposedly scattered and awaiting the discovery by modern humans. Five have been found, one being in Texas, one in Canada (the most famous - the Mitchell-Hedges Skull) one at the Smithsonian, one at the British Museum and one in Paris.
The skulls are said to house information for humankind and all the skulls will be found (and the information released) when the human race is ready to accept it.
Interestingly, the owner of the Mitchell-Hedges skull attempted to have the age verified by the company Hewlett Packard. With their remarkable work with crystal chips, they had the expertise to research the skull.
According to Mayan Legend, there will come a time when 13 ancient crystal skulls are reunited that can affect the Earth and the course of humanity. The story of Creation according to Mayan culture plays an integral part in daily Mayan living, so it is no surprise that the day the calendar ends plays an equally important role. This date is calculated as December 21, 2012 and there are many interpretations of 2012 Mayan prophecies."
Okay, lets forget about the 2012 Armageddon and just concentrate on the crystal skulls....
okay...hmm...let me break it down into a simpler equations..

Okay, you do know that quartz crystals are used in appliances like tv,radio, lasers, handphones and so on and so forth right...and of course crystals are used in timepieces as well....quartz watches and
clocks and stuffs...its pretty much the heartbeat of time itself...
So,this pretty much sums it all up...quartz are not only used a source of power and energy but it is also capable of storing informations...
Just put it this way,
Computers are powered by what ?
quartz crystal right.... if a computer powered by just a tiny little chips of quartz is able to hold all of its memory...just imagine what a 20 pounds of quartz crystal can hold...?
so maybe there is a possibility that the crystal skulls were some sort of ancient type computer to the mayan’s?
You might think that this is just ridiculous and scoff this idea but just think about it..
The modern civilisation often regard the ancient culture as being somewhat primitive, but modern science has yet to truly explain how the pyramids were built, how or why the Nazca lines were created, or how the ancients built great stone structures all over the world, like Stonehenge, Macchu Picchu, or the monoliths on Easter Island....right?
Just say, someone thousands of years from now found a laptop computer, would he know what it is or recognize the vast amount of information that it contains, and would he know how to access that information?
Maybe thats what we are facing today...or maybe it was just the pride that is causing us to live in denial that we do not want to acknowledge that there were a greater civilisation than us centuries back...
Okay, and the next question would be why SKULL?? Off all the things they could carve the crystal into...
some people might say because skull kinda represents death but based on what i found surfing the net...i found quite a number of pages which potrays skull as the “the vessel that contains consciousness, wisdom, knowledge and thought”.

So maybe the ancient civilisation left some breadcrumbs for us to guide us through these times of hardships and trials ?
Maybe...
Whether you believe in the "power" of these skulls, or it's merely a fascinating myth, this mystery is one that I suspect humankind will ponder for many generations to come.
and yea,do visit wikipedia if u got the time..they have many interesting links to this topic...
